Get Set to Sort The System

On Tuesday 18th April, Make Votes Matter held an online rally to hear why Sort The System - The Lobby for Equal Votes - is going to be our biggest opportunity yet to make the case for PR.

About Sort The System

Politics isn’t working. Life is getting harder and Westminster doesn’t seem capable of stopping the slide.

Our politics is out of touch because Parliament doesn’t fairly reflect how we vote. We need Proportional Representation so everyone’s voice is heard.

On 24th May, people from every part of the UK are coming to Westminster to tell MPs: it’s time to Sort The System.

At our ‘Get Set’ online rally to build momentum for Sort The System, we heard from senior politicians like Stephen Kinnock, Tommy Shepherd and Zack Polanski about why mass lobbies like Sort The System are important - and why now is the time!

They were joined by leading figures from across the democracy movement, including Jess Garland (ERS), Sarah Lewis (Liberal Democrats for Electoral Reform), Laura Parker (L4ND), Tom Brake (Unlock Democracy), Nancy Platts (Politics for the Many), and MVM's own Klina Jordan.

If you missed the event, you can watch the recording above to gain some tips on how to engage MPs of all parties in conversations about electoral reform, as well as some practical details and answers to supporters’ questions about May’s mass lobby.

Make your voice heard

Whether you’re already attending Sort The System, haven’t decided yet, or can’t make it, there are still many ways for you to be involved! For example, tell us why you think we need Proportional Representation by sending in your 30-second 'pitch for PR' video for a chance to appear in MVM’s campaign promotion. Make your video personal, passionate and concise and upload them to our Google folder here (or send them via email to sortthesystem@makevotesmatter.org.uk).*

*In sending us your 30-second pitch for PR, you are consenting to Make Votes Matter using your video on social media and in any way to promote the Sort The System event and for future purposes to help the campaign for Proportional Representation.
